Chelsea Trathen
Jazz, Tap, Competitions

At the age of two Chelsea started learning all fundamentals of Dance, which to this day has taken her around the world performing, choreographing and teaching.
At the age of 17 Chelsea toured Australia with the world-renowned international magic attraction, the ‘World Festival of Magic’. The following year, Chelsea’s career took her on to a new tenure as a Carnival Cruise Lines professional dancer based out of Los Angeles for three years performing to live audiences in the cruise liner’s spectacular professional stage productions. Chelsea later moved to Orlando, Florida where she trained extensively in Hip Hop and taught at Orlando Broadway Arts.
In concurrence with Chelsea’s ongoing teaching experience in the U.S, she shared her time over a couple of years also teaching at Coastal Dance Theatre on the Gold Coast, Australia where she continued to develop an extensive knowledge of the CSTD syllabus having progressively studied the examinations intensively from an early age.
Chelsea then moved to Hong Kong where she was offered the role of Vice Principal at the well-established Glenda Allen Dance Academy. Here she worked on building the business for four years while teaching and managing all aspects of the popular British live children’s show Scotty & Lulu including choreography, stage production, and costume design. While also in Hong Kong, through her industry experience, Chelsea set up and managed her own Entertainment and Events Company, which continues to provide dance, modelling and entertainment services to a client base including companies such as HSBC, Vanda Sport, FastTrack and Direct Property Group.
To further her passion for dance and her love of children, Chelsea took two months away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong seeking an opportunity to teach dance in an orphanage in Cambodia, embracing the local lifestyle, leaving with life-changing experiences.
Later leaving Hong Kong, Chelsea travelled to Singapore where she was employed by the Jody Marshal Dance Company as Senior Dance Instructor. During her two years in this role, Chelsea brought to the studio her teaching, choreography and business development experience, growing the school successfully through the development of CSTD, solo and group competitions, continuing to build the school’s profile as a leading Singapore dance studio.
Chelsea’s extensive experience in all fundamentals of dance – teaching, performing and managing for more than 13 years extends to her present role as Senior Dance Teacher for Stepping Out, Singapore.
